Introduction

Ekolamp s.r.o. is a non-profit organization that was founded on May 30, 2005 by the following companies:

  • Philips Česká republika s.r.o.,
  • Osram spol. s r.o.,
  • GE Industrial s.r.o.
  • NARVA B.E.L./ČR s.r.o.

The company operates a system for collecting and recycling Group 5 electrical and electronic equipment (lamps and luminaires).

Ekolamp composes a network of collection points and secures the collection, removal and processing of used lighting equipment, including subsequent material utilization and elimination of leftove waste.

The quality of services provided by the company are attested by its ISO 9001 and 27001 certificate.

The company’s primary mission is to provide, on a fair, open and non-discriminatory basis, all participants of the collective system (producers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment) with the possibility of jointly fulfilling their legal responsibilities regarding the collection and recycling of used lighting equipment, as follows from European Union and Czech legislation.

Ekolamp was recorded on the List of Producers electrical and electronic equipment under reference number KH002/05-ECZ as the operator of a collective system for Group 5 electrical and electronic equipment—lighting equipment. The lighting equipment group encompasses lamps (especially fluorescent lamps and discharge tubes) and luminaires.

At present, Ekolamp works with almost 450 city and municipal collection points and covers over 3,100 more municipalities via mobile collection. The collection of lamps (i.e., straight fluorescent lamps and energy saving fluorescent lamps and discharge tubes) and luminaires also takes place via wholesale and retail networks and points with small collection vessel.
